This article provides a calculation method of the saliency ratio of Cylindrical Insulation Barrier type of Synchronous Reluctance Machine (CIB-SynRM) according to quadrature-direct axis magnetic equivalent circuit, through which the distribution of magnetic flux on quadrature-direct axis. Compared with finite element method, this calculation method is not only decreasing the memory occupancy and simplifies the calculation processes of saliency ratio, but also obtains the connections between the saliency ratio and the width of insulation barriers and the length of air-gap, the width of the insulation barriers, the field angles of insulation barriers. On the basis of the method optimizes the structure parameters from all above mentioned to improve saliency ratio of CIB-SynRM and finite element method confirms the theoretical feasibility. Therefore, the calculation method of the saliency ratio provides great theoretical significance for the design of CIB-SynRM.
