The objective of this work is to model the process of carbon dioxide removal from the gaseous mixture CO2/CH4 where hollow fiber membrane contactors are used first to absorb and then to desorb carbon dioxide. The process itself involves two membrane contactors each with different phase contacting process. A model for one unit of membrane contactor with absorption is formulated and compared to a cell-based model of membrane contactor where one unit is divided into number of cells. The model is based on non-wetted mode, where gas mixture fills the membrane pores in counter-current flow. The same model is applied also for CO2 desorption where desorption occurs due to higher operating temperature. The whole model is implemented by using MATLAB. This work gives a simplified model for both absorption and desorption process of CO2 removal where membrane contactors are used.
