In this paper, a compact meander line shaped patch implantable broadband antenna for Wireless Medical Telemetry Service (WMTS) (1430MHz) band is proposed. The antenna is composed of a meander line radiation patch and a ground plane. A shorting pin is directly connected from the radiating patch to the ground plane to reduce the size of the antenna. The antenna occupies a small size of 10 × 12 × 1.57mm3 (188.4mm3). The antenna is optimized to achieve the single-band designed antenna. The results indicate that the antenna can achieve 360MHz (23.53%) impedance bandwidth for the WMTS band. The proposed antenna (implanted in the Rat's subcutaneous fat), with significant impedance bandwidth and its compactness, shows that the antenna is suitable for biotelemetry applications.
