Optimization of filter parameters are important to improve the performance of the filter for the intended application. In general, the optimized parameters of the image filter for a particular application may not be suitable for other applications as well. Hence to have a better performance, it is always required to modify the filter coefficients or parameters. In this paper the author propose few efficient techniques to estimate and to optimize the bilateral filter parameters which is used for impulse noise removal. The proposed algorithm utilizes the inputs like noise density, edges, contrast and histogram of the image to yield a better filter parameters. Using these parameter, bilateral filter can efficiently remove impulse noise for various noise densities.
