Dynamic voltage restore (DVR) is a well established power device able to compensate voltage disturbances, in especial voltage sags and swells, in the power system. Its main goal is to protect sensitive loads against these disturbances. For this purpose, the precise computation of the DVR compensation voltage reference is a important issue. One of the effective techniques for the reference generation uses low-pass filters in synchronous reference frame. Such technique is the basis for the new voltage reference generator presented in this paper. The proposed technique leads to similar results, but it has as advantages a simpler and more versatile implementation. It is developed in stationary frame which is in compliance with the majority of the currently used voltage controllers. Besides, it can be used in natural abc reference frame and it is also applied for single-phase DRVs. Simulation results are provided to compare the proposed technique with the conventional technique. The proposed technique is also evaluated experimentally in a DVR prototype.
