This paper presents a Multiphase Energy Generation System (MEGS) dedicated for applications requiring an increased reliability and fault-tolerant operation. It is shown that proposed solution allows for continuous performance of a multiphase back-to-back power converter in case of grid side converter leg failure. An inherent feature of multiphase machines for post-fault operation with adequate reconfiguration strategy is introduced to meet this requirement. Moreover, basic control and vector modulation strategies for proposed system are discussed briefly. Additionally, a simulation of fully working six-phase Induction Generator (IG) and back-to-back converter with reconfiguration feature is presented. Finally, some experimental results for MEGS post-fault operation are presented.
