This paper deals with a concept of low-cost metal inverted F antenna (IFA) that includes a feeding transmission line (IFATL). The aim of the approach is to ease its integration in a home-networking device, such as a gateway or a set-top box, where space is limited and where various components (display, connectors etc.) create obstacles to antenna radiation. The benefits of the proposed IFATL are demonstrated through an application in the WLAN 2.4GHz band, where the antenna assembly is disposed behind a display panel while featuring the suitable radiation performances.
