Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a most efficient and well-known modulation technique for transmission of digital data with high data rate up to 20 Mbps at low latency and good spectral efficiency. It is a multicarrier modulation technique where spectrum divided into carriers and each carrier orthogonally modulated. It helps to overcome the problem of multipath fading and provide resistance against frequency selective fading channel, immunity to delay spread, with low Inter carrier interference (ICI) and Inter symbol interference (ISI) but main problem with OFDM system is high PAPR that degrade the performance of OFDM system which can be improved by single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) technique without degrading bit error rate. There are various techniques has been demonstrated to reduce the problem of PAPR like signal scrambling or signal distortion technique. This paper considers nonlinear companding transform technique with carrier mapping for reduce PAPR and furthermore compare the performance of the system.
