The greatest impact on grid power quality of wind power integration is power fluctuation in range of 0.01Hz–1Hz. Low Voltage Ride Through is also a major technical problem in Wind Power Generation. The SEMS (Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage System) possess the characteristic of high storage energy density, low loss, fast respond speed and etc, so SEMS is applied in the wind power generation system to smooth the output power fluctuation, even during the wind turbine fault the SEMS can enhance the grid voltage stabilization and improve the Low Voltage Ride Through capacity by injecting the reactive power into the grid. Power Conditioning System is the critical part of SMES, exchanging power with the Grid. In the paper we analyze the main types and operating principle of the power regulating element in the SEMS, and combined with the direct power control algorithm we propose the control strategy of Power Conditioning System in the voltage source type superconducting energy storage system, finally the strategy is simulated in the Matlab/Simulink, the simulation results is analyzed and the future work is presented.
