This paper introduces our recently developed ultra-wideband filtering antenna, which is an integration of ultra-wideband antenna and filter. A simple mono-pole antenna with tapered shape is first designed to produce two resonance modes with ultra-wideband performance. Then, shorting pins are introduced to improve the out-of-band performance and the selectivity of the passband. Furthermore, an open stub is implemented to produce a LC resonator. Thus, a notched-band is realized within the passband. This antenna exhibits a simple structure and compact size with dimensions of 28.5×28×0.8mm3. The measured inband return loss is larger than 12dB within the desired UWB passband. The measurement results match with the simulation results.
