This paper investigates on the development of advanced three phase Permanent Magnet Brushless DC motor (PMBLDC) drive meant for future aerospace applications. Mathematical modeling of a drive is necessary for realizing the dynamic behaviour so it is developed and is presented here. The conversion of three phase system to the two phase reference frame using Park's. Clarke's transformations, advanced Space vector modulation (SVPWM) technique were analyzed and is used for the description of the drive. The real drive system is simulated using MATLAB m-file programming and Simulink function blocks. A comparative study of PWM and SVPWM controllers used with this drive system has been made in terms of total harmonic distortion. Separate code has been generated for modeling the power transformations, SVPWM which is essential for predicting the dynamic behavior of the BLDC motor drive. MATLAB Simulink model is used for validating the results.
