Fatigue and drowsiness are a part of everyday life for millions of people. They reduce reaction time, vigilance, alertness and concentration, therefore, the ability of performing attention-based activities (such as driving) is impaired. In this paper, a drowsy driver detection system has been developed, using video processing analyzing eyes blinking concepts for measuring eyes closure duration and head posture estimation to verify the driver vigilance state. There are two contributions in this paper. the first one resides in combining two parameters of drowsiness analysis. The second is the creation of a new method of head posture estimation.
