This paper presents the results from a novel FTC scheme designed for one of the RECONFIGURE benchmark problems. The scheme retro-fits an integral sliding mode control allocation scheme to the existing controller to achieve robustness and tolerance against faults/failures, in order to maintain nominal load factor tracking performance as well as the angle of attack protection. The scheme takes into consideration imperfections in the estimation of the actuator effectiveness level, which is used as part of the control allocation scheme. An adaptive element has also been used in order to give wide coverage of the flight envelope. Stability tests based on the Popov criterion are also presented which are less conservative than earlier work in this area. Preliminary simulation results using the RECONFIGURE benchmark model show the efficacy of the proposed scheme.
