The Infona portal uses cookies, i.e. strings of text saved by a browser on the user's device. The portal can access those files and use them to remember the user's data, such as their chosen settings (screen view, interface language, etc.), or their login data. We argue that it is time to design, implement, and deploy a trusted public randomness server on the Internet. NIST plans to deploy a prototype during 2011. We discuss some of the engineering choices that have been made as well as some of the issues currently under discussion.
