LTCC substrate has been widely used in many fields nowadays. In this paper, we investigate the use of it as a dielectric resonator antenna. Marcatili's approximation is used to predict the modes of a dielectric resonator (DR). HFSS eigenmode model has been built to verify this method. Subsequently, a dipole is applied to excite the DR and its radiation properties have been studied. Finally, an example of 60GHz UWB dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) has been designed and an end-fire gain of 9.6dB is achieved based on simulation.
