In this work, we propose a robust Luby transform (LT)-codes-based mobile peer-to-peer (P2P) video multicast system. The proposed system adopts LT codes to handle the effect of lost packets over wireless networks efficiently and to simplify the exchange of buffer map information, as well as a push-pull delivery mechanism to transmit LT encoding symbols, which are required for successful decoding, to all the participating peers on time with minimal overall redundancy. The proposed system is designed to pursue an efficient tradeoff between delay and the amount of redundancy by controlling the code rate of LT codes.
