With the development of wireless communication systems a new era in the antenna designs has started. Dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) form part of this development. Many researchers have focused on finding best means to improve the performance of antennas including finding new ceramic materials. DRAs are commonly made of ceramic materials of high dielectric constant, which are opaque to light. In this paper, we report our investigation of DRAs made of transparent ceramic materials. Both simulation and experimental results are presented.
