Opportunistic networks is one of the most interesting evolutions of mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). This paper describes a novel outdoor wireless localization approach. It includes the deployment and localization algorithm in Opportunistic networks. In this paper, the opportunistic networks model consists of static nodes and motes. The static nodes are location known but motes are location-unaware. The static nodes are deployed around the monitoring region with the style of cellular which has proven rational and economic. In order to improve the accuracy of localization, the paper proposes a high accuracy outdoor ranging approach based on received signal indicator (RSSI). In addition, considering the delay tolerant characteristic of opportunistic networks, we present the correction-localization based on region division. The correction-localization method deals with the motes lie in the regions that are covered by two reference nodes. The performances of the network topology and localization algorithm are evaluated by using simulated and real experimental data.
