The performance evaluation of control channels is very important, since the efficient signaling is critical to support the user data transmission in wireless communication. In the third generation (3G) Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-Advanced) system, control channels are particularly studied and designed. In this paper, an introduction of downlink physical control channels in LTE-Advanced system is presented first. Then the performance evaluation of these physical channels with different operation bandwidths is carried out in accordance with the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) specifications. Simulation results show that the minimum requirements with the minimum system bandwidth are confirmed to be satisfied. With respect to the minimum requirements which are the probabilities of miss-detection of the channels, the SNR thresholds are specified, which can be utilized as the metrics to determine the system coverage.
