This article study the failure mode of brick masonry subject to earthquake effect,design five T-shaped cross section unreinforced brick masonry walls as typical wall. Use the ABAQUS to simulate earthquake effect and the loading positions are at different height. Compare and analyze the stress cloud charts and the different load-displacement curves. Through the analysis, the 1.8m is suitable loading height that make the masonry wall destoried in flexural failure mode. Flexural failure make masonry have higher ductility coefficient. The seismic energy is dissipated with the recoverable cracking and level displacement of masonry wall increasing and it prevent masonry structure destoried brittlely.
