Nowadays switched reluctance machine is very ideal for many applications because of its simple configuration and having very high power density at low-cost. This paper analyzes and compares two different types of switched reluctance motor/generator (SRMG) and their applications. The proposed novel motor/generators consist of two magnetically independent stator and rotor sets (layers), where each stator set includes four salient poles with windings wrapped around them, the rotor comprises of two salient poles with different arc lengths. In the motor/generators analysis, the finite element technique is employed, where as in the experimental study, two prototype motor/generators have been built and tested.
