Recent research has shown that the Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) system is an attractive technology for uplink broadband wireless communications, because it does not have the problems of Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) systems such as the large Power-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR). In this paper, an efficient transceiver scheme for SC-FDMA using the wavelet transform is proposed. In this scheme, the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and its Inverse (IFFT) are replaced by the Integer Wavelet Transform (IWT) and its Inverse (HWT). Wavelet filter banks at the transmitter and the receiver demonstrate the ability to reduce distortion in the reconstructed signal, while retaining all the significant features present in the signal. The performance of the proposed scheme is investigated with different wireless channels. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides better performance, when compared to the conventional SC-FDMA, while the complexity of the system is slightly increased.
