The 26th edition of QBSC marks also its 50th year since it has been initiated in 1962 by the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Queen??s University. In 2010 we celebrated our 25th anniversary with the participation of a number of historical contributors to this important landmark for the telecommunications research in Canada. This year, we are offering you an excellent program, including two distinguished plenary speakers: Dr. Vijay Bhargava, Professor at the University of British Columbia and Dr. Alberto Leon-Garcia, Professor at the University of Toronto. Forty-four technical papers have been selected for presentation over 12 technical sessions covering a wide range of topics. This number of papers is about 60% less than the usual number we had at QBSC in the previous years. This is due to other major conferences taking place in the Ottawa/Montreal region during the period of June-July 2012. This has certainly helped the Technical Program Committee to dedicate more time to evaluate the papers and improve their technical quality. The acceptance rate is about 60% which is similar to the previous years. This indicates that technical quality has been always a priority to QBSC since its creation in 1962.
