The history of microwave research in China can be traced back to the 1950s and has been comprehensive ly reviewed by both Prof. Huang [1] and Prof. Lin [2], who offered complementary perspectives. Since the 1980s, microwave technology (including millimeter waves and THz techniques) has rapidly developed and nowadays plays a major role in both the daily life and the industrial environment in China. This article intends to give an overview of the state-of-the-art microwave technology in China today, and details its progress over the past decades. It is impossible to cover the entire subject comprehensively because of its depth and breadth; however, some major topics relating to the microwave technology, which are in fact tremendous accomplishments made by certain key universities and research institutes in China, are presented.
