This study investigates the temporal trends of different level inequalities, spatial dependence and mechanisms of regional development in Fujian by using traditional statistic indices and spatial statistical techniques. First, by employing Theil-index and its decomposing method, it finds that Fujian experienced a decreasing regional inequality and an increasing interregional inequality since 1990. Second, with the ESDA statistic techniques it discovers the intensifying spatial autocorrelation in regional development in Fujian. Third, three regression models are used to fit the mechanisms of regional inequality in Fujian. The differences underlying the magnitude and significance of regression coefficients suggest that location, urbanization, decentralization and globalization are significant factors in regional inequality in Fujian.
