The Linear Sampling Method (LSM) is a simple and effective approach to image the geometrical features of unknown targets. In this communication, we exploit the physical interpretation of LSM as a focusing strategy to show how the LSM also provides additional information useful to facilitate the retrieval of the target's electromagnetic properties. In particular, after discussing such an additional information that arises from the LSM, we show how to use it in the framework of non-linear inversion. Then, a novel imaging approach based on this concept is introduced. A numerical example is provided to assess its reliability and effectiveness.
