The increasing number of distributed generations (DG) in the low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) network has the potential to form a new type of power system, the MicroGrid. These distribution networks can be connected to the main power network or be operated autonomously. The MicroGrid technologies have become one of the hot spots in the research on distributed energy systems. In this paper models of the main dispersed generations such as Photovoltaic Systems and Wind Turbines are described and a simulation platform has been built to represent the steady and dynamic behaviour of the distribution networks. Energy storage technology is regarded as one of the core technologies in MicroGrid, which plays an important role for stabilizing power system and utilizing renewable energy with high efficiency. So the models of energy storage devices have also brought into our simulation platform in order to flat the random fluctuation of the output power of DG. Finally the benchmark network is designed to study the impact of DG and the islanded operation of the MicroGrid.
