The performance characteristics of a hybrid wind turbine generating system are discussed for generating an arbitrary output power regardless of the fluctuation in wind velocity. The hybrid system consists of a wind turbine generator, a thyristor rectifier, a current-source thyristor inverter, a synchronous generator driven by an electric motor and duplex reactor. Experimental and theoretical investigations are given here to show the usefulness of the whole system for such cases of the output obtained the wind energy being larger than the demand of the system load.
