This paper investigates the relationship between environmental pollution and foreign direct investment in Liaoning Province based on the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis, using provincial data over 1990-2008. Industrial wastewater, dust emissions, solid wastes and SO2 are used as environmental indicators. The results indicate that there are N-shaped relations between foreign direct investment and the four main environmental indicators. Liaoning province should optimize capital structure and source; increase environment coordinated development economic growth and environmental quality.
