The temporal characteristics of local tropopause are derived from the routine radiosonde data obtained at Wuhan (30.5° N, 114° E)and Haikou ( 20°N, 114°E ) from 2000 to 2004. The annual variations of temperature, altitude and potential temperature of tropopause are compared with those over a tropical site. The tropopause height of both site reach maximum in summer and minimum in winter, but inverse trends can be found between these two sites for their tropopause temperature. The annual variation of tropopause height and temperature from Haikou is similar as that of Truk, a tropical site.
