In this paper, we evaluate the possibility of monitoring-based network-adaptive forward error correction (FEC) for wireless multi-hop video streaming. By collectively monitoring the video streaming path with the help of intermediate nodes, the proposed hop-to-end (H2E) FEC scheme balances end-to-end and hop-by-hop FEC protection. It attempts to minimize the end-to-end packet loss and reduce overhead for video streaming over multi-hop WMNs. To verify the feasibility of proposed scheme, we perform extensive experiments over the IEEE 802.11a-based multi-hop WMN testbed.
