A novel approach for wideband beamforming in the presence of multi-path signals is proposed based on a frequency invariant transformation. In this approach, the received array signals are first processed by a frequency invariant beamforming network and then an appropriate instantaneous blind source separation (BSS) algorithm is applied to its output to recover the signal of interest. It is shown that with the proposed structure, the cancellation of the desired signal due to multi-path propagation is reduced, leading to a significantly improved output SINR (signal to interference plus noise ratio).
