A crucial issue in the exploitation of harmonic and multitone radar is the nature of target signatures at the various emission frequencies. In this paper we describe some preliminary results on how the nonlinear response of a target depends on its composition for the specific example of a target with a bare metal surface. Our results show that, in contrast to linear radar signatures, those with metal surfaces are the most difficult targets to detect.
