Generally, telecom power systems are connected to grid and diesel generator with batteries providing short/long term back-up power. This paper represents a new telecom power system using local micro-sources, i.e., a wind turbine driven brushless dc (BLDC) generator and a battery pack. Some benefits of this system are effectively eliminating the diesel generator, grid connection, and automatic transfer switch. The design, modeling, and control issues of a wind turbine driven brushless dc generator for telecom power systems are main focus of this paper.
