It is a challenging problem to integrate massive information from a normal web page, which is designed for PCs, to display on mobile handheld device with small screen, poor user interface and limited hardware ability. By referring to mashup concept, a new web page adaptation scheme for mobile device is proposed: firstly, a original web page is split into many small blocks which are suitable for displaying on mobile device; subsequently, the blocks are classified by analyzing layered iterative relationship between these blocks on horizontal and vertical direction; moreover, web service APIs are provided so that mobile terminal users or third-party service providers can mashup the page blocks swiftly and conveniently, establishing new personalized and various mobile web applications; finally, the proposed scheme is put into practice as a prototype, which verifies the scheme and shows its values in both technical and economical viewpoints.
