The possibility of increasing the tree inception voltage for the super clean cross-linked polyethylene of today by adding an active species, a voltage stabilizer, has been questioned. However, this paper will show that this is possible and that the increases achieved are significant. A comparison was also made with the best available voltage stabilizers in the literature today as a reference and is here reported to be in the same range, although the new voltage stabilizer work at a 24% lower load. The total increase will amount to 18.4% at a load of 0.76% by weight, and this corresponds to an increase of 106 kV/mm from the 579 kV/mm for the reference XLPE.
