Mobile ad-hoc networks are dynamic temporary networks that work without any centralized infrastructure. There is a need to provide a middle layer substrate for higher lever applications to query the state of such networks. In this paper, we propose the design of DIMSMAD, a Distributed Information Management System for Mobile Ad-hoc Networks. Specifically, we show how hierarchical aggregation can be achieved using the concept of mobile clusters. We also show how MADPastry, an existing overlay architecture for mobile ad-hoc networks, can be exploited effectively for overlay routing of aggregation values along aggregation trees.
