Wideband antennas that can operate over a frequency range from 10psilas of MHz up to several GHz is highly desirable, yet a challenge (Kramer et al., 2006). As expected, a major challenge is to keep the size small while maintaining bandwidth. Another and key challenge is the need for a ground plane that does not deteriorate the UWB performance for conformal installations (Kramer et al., 2006). This paper is based on the design of an UWB ground plane using commercially available ferrite layer coating.
