Through this study, the usefulness of two forms of impedance match tuners, a) plain sheath cover, and b) patch-array cover, for FPAs has been ascertained. This work thus marks an inaugural effort towards the impedance matching of FPAs, especially for the lower frequency bands, in which the problems associated with the increased severity of mutual coupling losses have been of primary concern. It has been found that microstrip array-type tuners are effective at low frequencies, being the pertinent issue at hand.
