A sample of Pt metallic nanoparticles (NPs) supported on gamma-Fe2O3 was successfully synthesized in a rapid chemical reduction process. The structural analyses of the synthesized sample were performed by Ultraviolet-visible spectra (UV-vis) spectrometry, Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometer, Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) and X-Ray powder diffraction (XRD). The finding is instructive to elucidate in depth some relationship between surface metallization and property of magnetic NPs. The Pt-coated maghemite sample is a promising magnetic responsive catalyst material.
