In this paper, we report to use a novel method based on electrical cell-substrate impedance sensing (ECIS) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) to obtain accurate and quantitative indicators of cardiomyocyte adhesion by analyzing impedance of cardiomyocyte layer cultured on gold-coated electrodes of micro-fabricated biosensors. Development of ECIS technique was made to inhibit the great electric noise generated by cardiomyocytes due to its excitable cell membrane. The impedance spectrum was fit to our equivalent circuit model and isolated to electrical parameters corresponding to clear physical pictures.
