In this study we have used a combination of Lorentz microscopy and off-axis electron holography to study closely spaced deep submicron lithographically patterned Co nanostructures. Lorentz microscopy was used to establish typical domain structures within the magnetic elements, and to study domain wall motion over the range of external fields required for magnetization reversal. Electron holography provided detailed quantitative information about the magnetic microstructure of the elements and their domain configurations.
