A novel contacting technique is described which results in very stable and reproducible diode parameters which allow cooling to low temperatures, and which can withstand typical space qualifying tests. Such mixers are currently used for remote sensing and radioastronomy. The results of subharmonically pumped mixers, using the described contacting method, in the frequency range 50?200GHz are also given.
