The design of a new oscillator circuit capable of electronic control and gating over a wide frequency range and giving a waveform of low harmonic content is described. It is shown that the use of a symmetrical triangular shape followed by truncation of the peaks gives a powerful new approach to wideband oscillator design, from very low frequencies up to 25 MHz and resulting in zero, 2nd, 3rd and 4th harmonics.
