This paper presents a new scheme for parallel hybrid power filter with variable passive part. The proposed model uses a current variable inductor in passive part designed by the software of finite elements method (FEM). The aim of this scheme is reducing power rating of active part of hybrid power filter. To evaluate its performance, this method is simulated by using MATLAB Simulink power system toolbox. Simulation results show the performance of the proposed method with quite satisfaction to eliminate harmonics and reactive power components from utility current. Then to evaluate the cost of proposed model, an economical comparison between this model and conventional one is done. This comparison shows that the cost of proposed model is less than the conventional one. Therefore this method can eliminate harmonics of load current with less cost when load current varies.
