This paper presents emergency operation strategy for power system restoration using grey relational analysis (GRA). The restoration scheme can be divided into fault section detection (FSD) and restoration strategy (RS). Two GRAs are used to design the overall restoration scheme. The first GRA is used for on-off switching states to identify fault section. The second GRA is for combining switching states and load levels to operate restoration strategies. The optimal power flow (OPF) is responsible for verifying the proposed schemes by off-line analysis and confirming the security operation. Computer simulations were conducted with an IEEE 30-bus power system to show the effectiveness of the proposed restoration scheme
