This paper presents a modified semi-circular disc (MSCD) dipole antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide with a rejection band from 5.1-6 GHz (Wireless LAN) for ultra-wideband applications. This antenna uses a novel tapered ground and can cover the frequency band from 3-12 GHz. A half-wavelength semi-circular slot is employed to introduce the notched band. The operation principal is introduced and confirmed by simulation results.
