This paper presents the simulation and real time hardware implementation of shunt active power filter in analog devices DSP (ADMC401) environment. The synchronous detection method is applied to calculate compensating currents while the three phase source is feeding a highly non-linear load. Synchronous detection algorithm is capable of working under both balanced and unbalanced source voltages. The equal current distribution method of synchronous detection theory is used here to calculate the three phase compensating currents to be provided by the active filter
