Based on the characteristics of transverse flux permanent magnet machine (TFPM), a novel multi-pole and multi-phase TFPM topology with assembled stator and concentrated flux rotor is presented in this paper. The associated electromagnetic fields of the prototype are investigated by means of three dimension equivalent magnetic network method (3DEMNM). It is shown the unique multi-phase structure of TFPM is valid for power generation enhancement as well as cogging torque reduction, which is vital for applications of low speed, high torque and direct drive in industrial and martial area and the experimental measurement of four-phase prototype meets with the simulation results completely when the motor operates with a brushless DC drive
