In high-speed digital mobile radio communication, transmission performance is severely degraded by frequency-selective fading caused by the delay time spread of multipath propagation. Forward error correction (FEC) is one of the most effective techniques to improve transmission quality. The authors evaluate the effect of FEC on burst errors under frequency-selective fading. The FEC effect with diversity reception and interleaving is also investigated.<<ETX>>
